One favourite time-saving plugin: Instant Upgrade

Instant Upgrade: Upgrade your WordPress-Installation with one simple click.

This is one of the plugins in my blog I could never live without. I installed it just before I went into a blog hiatus about 3 months ago. I used to do my WordPress upgrades manually, by FTPing to and fro my server. Instant Upgrade helps me to do that in about 0.001 seconds. The interesting part about this plugin is its ability to downgrade to a lower version of WordPress should you choose to do so, although I haven’t personally tested it myself for fear of a database screw-up.

Alex Günsche did a good work on this simple plugin. I’m sure there’s a few more WP upgrade plugins out there that works as well or better than Instant Upgrade, and I have tried two others, both didn’t work at all.

Spread the love

    Thanks for the tip.

I am using WordPress Automatic Upgrade (currently v 0.8) by Keith Dsouza, it also has a one-click upgrade option.

    Have you tried that one?

That’s one of the upgrade plugins I tried and didn’t work. If I remembered correctly, I clicked the Upgrade button and nothing happened, not even a “please wait” message appeared.

I have the one like Ben above and its done its job wonderfully without intervention.
Even though like that, i sometimes need to do the hard labour too and even use the shell. Nothing like the exercise to my slow brain. My sifu is of coz Azmeen from HTNet.

Then there’s raymond.cc, that very popular Malaysian blog with a very strange TLD. It didnt prevent it from getting 45K uniques per day and more than 13K subscribers though!

yayaya.. he’s one of the ‘specific’ url too but honestly, i never get his address wrong. simply because i know raymond.cc is not personal type blog. He’s one of my favorite link when comes to computer 😀

  5. This plugin is weird. It worked excellent on my sisters blog, but on my site it just won’t work. I can’t explain why, both of our sites are hosted on the same server.

    Hey, thanks a lot.
I`ll test this one. I also was using WordPress Automatic Upgrade but I`m gonna try this one too.
