I would have thought everyone knew about how to receive funds without needing a US bank account, until I accidentally eavesdropped on a conversation by a couple of people complaining how hard it is to take out money from their PayPal accounts.
Well, it’s not hard. Here’s a totally free instruction on how you can do so. Applicable for anyone and everyone regardless of which country you live in. And it still works, despite what has been commented.
So stop whining already! 😛

Yeah, VMI card is one of the solution we Malaysian can go for when it comes to Withdrawing funds in PayPal. I been using it for a month odi. Best! 😀
I noticed you’ve been doing PPP for some time now. Just curious — have you been withdrawing funds from PayPal before you got your VMI card? If you have, how?
my brother, over in Italy, thanks you!
I thought paypal doesnt like VMI, and u could get banned by paypal?
Some ppl like chanlilian gets a trusted person to withdraw the funds for her, or sth like that.
Yeah, using VMI is not a good solution. It is better to get an US Bank account to solve the issue forever.
I have been using US bank withdraw my PayPal fund since May last year without any issue.
I read the article. It would even probably work for me here in the Philippines except for one thing. Regular mail doesn’t reach me for up to 3 months (and sometimes doesn’t reach me at all). I would hate for an ATM card to ‘disappear’ in our mail service. I’m having my wife FedEx me an ATM card from the U.S. (once she opens the account and receives it) for that very reason.
Lorna, before my VMI, I haven’t been withdrawing my funds yet. But someone offered to withdraw for me, because he have a US business account. However, he’s offering a low exchange rate, so I saved saja my fund for the time being. Until I got my VMI card tho. 😀
You need to get your US Bank account link to your PayPal as soon as possible. I was informed that PayPal changed their policy recently. You can’t accept payment if you are not link to any bank in US.
I suggest you get it done ASAP.
It would be great if anyone can give me a direct link to the PayPal announcement on this matter. There’s often a lot of hoo-ha’s concerning PayPal payment problems such as those reported in Hong Kiat’s site, but seldom much proof. Thanks for the note though.
There seems to be no need to link to a US bank account, as the problem was caused by a technical hitch: http://www.liewcf.com/blog/archives/2007/05/us-bank-account-required-to-receive-paypal-money/
There are at least 3 other safer ways for Malaysians to withdraw paypal funds via Malaysian bank ATMs: via “traders” (for small amounts), accentcard (costs RM170) or etraders (costs a mere RM4 sth). Details in ebook by Bitol: http://urltea.com/q98 [RM10 only – pls forgive the affiliate link :-)]
Which option do you use?
None yet. I just read the book. Both 2nd and 3rd option have monthly charges. For the time being perhaps option 1 is the best for me.
Thanks for the information. I’ve been wondering how to do this for a while.
VMI Cards now available in Malaysia. Those interested could email vm.mal@gmail.com. I just got mine last week and it works!!! Really free me from paying additional fees /ebook.
