Widgets are extensions of plugins installed on the sidebar of your web site. I absolutely love widgets, and it was one of the motivators for me to use WordPress. These are the widgets I currently have on my site right now (remember to install the Sidebar Widgets plugin by Auttomatic, Inc. first — I’m currently using v.1.2.1.20070210b as of version 2.2 and higher, widgets capability is now built into WordPress):
