I have a young brain — how old is yours?

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

A fellow Giuk.net member Joan gave a heads-up on a simple but nifty online Japanese game that attempts to guess the age of your brain. You don’t really need to read its Japanese-written instructions to know how to play it.

Mm… maybe you do.

1. Once the Flash game loads, click Start.
2. It will count down from 3 to 1.
3. In just one second, you’ll see a set of number placed randomly, and you need to memorize it.
4. Once it’s blanked out, you need to click the number in sequence, from the smallest number to the largest number.
5. When you get 3 incorrect attempts, it will finally give you your score, i.e. the age of your brain.

I was scored 4 years younger than my actual age, woohoo!

Nah, don’t take it too serious, it’s just a game. Even if you scored 44 when you’re actually 25, so what? *runs away and guffaws*

Cheer up with some funny sites

Monday, February 11th, 2008

I almost religiously lurk a few sites daily to give me a happy boost, so I thought I’d share it with you a few of my favourites. You can never go wrong with reading Blaugh.com, a site full of comics parodying life with the Internet and everything else. They like to tag themselves as the unofficial comic of the blogosphere, so it’s no surprise that they even have a plugin that you can use if you own your blog, so that you can display frequent doses of humour in your otherwise bland site. I used to have the plugin in my site till it stopped working for some unknown reason.

Humorous PicturesIf you’re not laughing at the photos known as LOLCats posted in I Can Has Cheezburger, then you must not have a single funny bone in you. Even my 7-year old son gets a laugh out of the captions. The best thing about this is that you can subscribe to its feed so that you can get the latest LOLs every time the site updates itself. You’ll be glad you subscribe, too, because the site updates itself at least daily.

Flickr is another treasure trove full of interesting pictures. I often do a search on funny photos by keying in the word “funny” in the search form, and I’ll get to see some cool photos such as this photo of the notice board directed at dogs — “Attention Dogs: Grrrrr, bark, woof. Good dog.”

For a slightly more adult humour on computers, IT and everything else digital, I go to Geekologie. It was this site that pointed me to the crazy Japanese slapping game, and recently it even featured a high-tech prophylactic that makes music! Sure would come in handy if you’re ever the person that gets easily bored while in action.

Darth Vader Blabberized

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Have you heard of the free Blabberize.com? They call themselves the talking picture; what you do is to upload a picture for editing, select a soundtrack to go with the photo, specifiy the mouth region to animate it, and convert it into video. I personally haven’t tried it, but Chris Pirillo did, by transforming Darth Vader the Phantom Menace to Darth Vader the Phantom of the Opera.

If you have too much time on your hands, you may want to try it, too.
