EntreCard + SezWho = better traffic?

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

As SunEGrl mentioned in her post and as every EntreCarder knows, EC has partnered with SezWho, thus enabling you to earn EC credits every time you comment on other EC members’ blogs and vice versa. This partnership is a step up from just dropping your EC cards, and would require ECers be more proactive participants in each others’ blogs.

I first saw SezWho implemented on Andy Beard’s web site, and contrary to what SunEGrl claims, the SezWho plugin didn’t slow down Andy’s blog noticably as far as I know.

If you’re looking to increase your traffic and visitor participation, you should definitely try EntreCard and signing up for SezWho.

As for WebGrrrl.net, I don’t plan on installing SezWho any time soon, as my current mission is to increase traffic from search engines instead of just relying on social bookmarks. I’m already using 13 WordPress plugins in this blog, and I don’t plan on bombarding my site with anymore plugins unnecessarily.

I do foresee myself using SezWho on this blog in the future, mainly because it can be a wonderful boost of exposure for commentators on this site, as SezWho not only shows you the comments you made on this blog, but other blogs that have SezWho installed. Makes bloghopping more fun, too.

My favourite way to surf Entrecard sites

Entrecard is Good! WebGrrrl like!

Have I ever mentioned how much I love EntreCard? Anyways, for those of you who are new to EntreCard, there is one absolutely fun way of browsing EC members’ sites, other than the usual card-dropping technique. I’ve been using this tool the second day after I registered for EC. Developed by Createlf.com, the EntreCard Browser lets your visit random blogs of EC members with just a click of a mouse button. Very easy to use, and if you’re a frequent EC blog hopper, you should immediately add this tool in your browser bookmark or favourites. Not only is this a great way to let time fly, but you collect points from every card you drop, too.

I’ve been slacking away lately from visiting my EC card droppers due to my flu and all, but don’t fret, I’ll return your visits pretty soon.

Little changes that turned into major goodness

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

(Tacky headline, don’t you think?)

If you’re subscribed to my feeds, you probably don’t realize that I have made three changes to my blog this month. Although very small, they’ve been very significant in terms of increased traffic, and — yes — increased moolah! Yeehah!

  1. The Top Commentators list at WebGrrrl.net has been increased
Many people who have used this plugin/widget have posted about how Top Commentators can increase a blog’s visitor participation and bring in more traffic. And they’re true. Of course, comments also depends on the quality of your posts, PageR***, and removing the nofollow tag off your comments. I recently thought that it would be cool to just list as many commentors as possible every month, so that every one gets the chance to show off their URLs in my home page. It’s currently set to 30 names, but I’ll keep increasing them as the commentors grow every month. From the increased comments I received, everyone seems to like this change.
  2. EntreCard has been added
I am loving the EntreCard concept; users get EC credits for visiting or being visited, then use the points to advertise or buy some stuff. I have noticed a 20% increase in visits since I installed EC on my sidebar, and discovered many other great blogs out there that I ended up subscribing to.
  3. Ads have been added
Because of the increased traffic, I thought that I should just take advantage of it by targeting and monetizing my popular posts. You should only see those big ads showing up in certain posts that are popular with the search engines. And, oh boy, it is definitely showing some very good results! I like to do the hard work, but it doesn’t hurt to get some passive income once in a while.

At least try the first two if you’re looking to build some easy traffic into your site or increase your blog’s popularity. Feel free to share your own traffic-building tips, too.

I joined the Entrecard bandwagon

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Out goes my Blogsvertise ad, and in comes Entrecard. I initially put up the Blogsvertise ad due to numerous requests to advertise in my blog, but since I don’t want the hassle of managing them, I thought Blogsvertise could do it for me. (Not) surprisingly, I did not get any ad requests after that.

Now, I have seen Entrecard being used in other blogs, prominent and the not-so’s, but I have never thought of incorporating it into my blog. The buzz around Entrecard seemed to be focused more about drawing traffic into their blogs and web sites, an issue which doesn’t matter to me as I’m not really concerned with whether people would read my entries or not, blogging has always just been a passion.

Lately, though, I was beginning to get what Entrecard is more about — networking different site and blog owners to each other by treating their Entrecard accounts as a sort of digital business card that they can drop into their site (I know, I know, Entrecard has been pitching that concept everywhere, but as I said, I only just got it!). And giving free ad space for my blog visitors? Sure, why not?

If you are an Entrecard user, don’t be shy and do drop your Entrecard as often as you wish. Other than through the comments and my MyBlogLog widget,  your Entrecard would be a fun way for me to know who you are. It also means that I have more places to bloghop to later!
