Retiring my site at Tripod

Screenshot of my Tripod web site at http://ltimbah.tripod.com/ After existing for almost 12 years as my official web site, I’ve done the necessary backup to the site for posterity and have retired my Tripod site for good.

I have lots of very fond memories of using this site ever since I knew about the Internet in 1996 while I was studying in Alabama. It has been instrumental in allowing me to learn all about blogging before it was ever known as one. It carried out its duty as a fansite for my Star Trek: TNG, The X-Files and Home Improvement TV obsessions, became a temporary intranet web site while I was lecturing, served as my resume and portfolio site, and allowed me to rant online on anything and everything for almost 12 years — the site archives proves it so.

I may find other uses for it in the future, but at the mean time, the original Home of Lorna Timbah Online deserves a break.

Wow! That must have taken some doing. I doubt that I would ever be able to do something like that!

I think I should retire my site at geocities too - it too has been around since 1996.

your site has been around a long time! my original site is a design office site so it was changing every year. i have not done much to it as i have gotten into blogging. so to drop the original site is not in the works but someday bring it up to today’s technology.

anyway, onward and upward and thanks for sharing. also thanks for the top commentator plugin. two of my blogs have it…

I have had a presence on the internet for around a year and I am feeling like I’ve been here all my life. You have managed to maintain a website for 12 years! It has developed as your interests and needs have changed.

I’m seriously impressed.

John
