I screwed my future posts

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Dunce.I came back from a long 2-week holiday, only to find that my future posts didn’t publish at all! I found out later that the Post Status for ALL of them are in Draft mode. Dagnabit! Gah! Slaps forehead a million times!

Don’t be surprised if you see an onslaught of posts by the end of today. I’m taking my time with republishing them as I’m rushing to do some errands as usual. Cheers!

Measure your schlong the shoe size way

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Shoe and schlong grows togetherHere is a site that claims to well-document the relationship between a man’s little best friend with his shoe size. Yes, folks, according to the web site, size does matter. It impressively details out the different shoe size units to consider, with, among others, a fantastical statement that it may not be shoe size, but raw IQ and the number of published research papers that are the best predictors of a large member. Wait, what? It even warns you that you should get medical treatment ASAP if your pee-pee gets excited for over four hours when reading the site’s information. Maybe I should just pretend that warning was written in a foreign language that I have no absolute chance of understanding.

Although I kind of wonder if measuring it the other way around would work, I’d take this site lightly if I were you, because really, would you ever take an internationalization architect who plays air guitar seriously? Besides, it’s not the size of the wave that matters, it’s the motion of the ocean.

MMORPGs for free

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

I’m considering about subscribing to FilePlanet, which has an impressive list of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) that can be played for free. Supposedly by subscribing, you get to get tons of gaming goodies, such as a 14-day leveling boost, giant starter packs, and access to other PC games for free. Sweet.

Knight Online screen shot, courtesy of FilePlanet.Among the free games listed, I’ve tried Hero, Knight and Myth War and my favourite has got to be Knight Online for its cool monsters and easy keyboard shortcuts, thus enabling my characters to go into action with my eyes closed. Hero Online has the same ease, but I wasn’t so excited with it probably because its online community doesn’t really get to me… I dunno. Myth War has great online community involvement, but its UI isn’t really as interactive as the former two.

I’m thinking of playing Knight Online again. I stopped playing all three games now — Knight Online because at that time it was 2002 and I was still using dial-up — shared between four people nonetheless! — which never fails to give me mild heart attacks during war events; Hero Online because I wasn’t in the mood to play plus I moved to another job in another town which doesn’t have any broadband available; and Myth War Online because, well, my husband stopped playing it and so I stopped leveling the characters up for him.

WordPress contact form plugin for the sake of a good review

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

I noticed, through reading people’s posts reviewing other blogs, that people make a big deal of having a contact form in your blog, which is a sort of a big no-no if you don’t have one. I finally got off my lazy behind and installed cform II, one of the many WordPress contact form plugins out there. And I’m telling you, if you’re not very plugin-savvy, this one may give you a heart attack. Nevertheless, I chose to use this because I’m smart and I’m a show-off you know. Not really. I choose it for the flexibility and options it gives you, which — although not all are being enabled for this blog — I believe will come in handy as my blog grows.

There are much simpler forms available, but if you do choose to install a contact form, beware of increased spam and try to find a form plugin with a built-in Captcha option to lessen unwanted spam.

Downloadable Bullfrog games

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

Screen shot of Constructor. Courtesy of Abandonia (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/369/Constructor.htm)I’m still in my gaming mode ever since I got the itch to play Theme Hospital. I then started looking for more sites with Bullfrog games that I can download off. Although Game Spot has an extensive list of Bullfrog games, I prefer the Bullfrog game list in Home of the Underdogs (HOTU); the former site provided nice to add-ons and patches, but the latter provided the links to download the game for free, so on top of Abandonia and Best Old Games, HOTU gets two thumbs up (and a donation) from me for being one of the best free downloadable games web sites in cyberspace.

Other than Theme Hospital and Theme Park, I have never played Bullfrog’s other games, especially Populous II and Syndicate which are getting some rave reviews from all the gaming sites I visited. I plan to download them as soon as I finish playing another favourite simulation game of mine called Constructor.

Bullforg logo. Courtesy of House of the Underdogs (http://www.the-underdogs.info)I had a vague recollection of how much I got a kick out of sending gangsters to destroy the competitors’ buildings. I also barely remembered the title of the game at first, but for some reason HOTU read my mind and it found the game for me — how cool was that? I’ve just finished downloading Constructor a minute ago, so I’m off to have a blast with this game as soon as I’m done with my laundry :P
